Hassan Tower : info and guided tour
Tour Hassan Overview
Tour Hassan is one of the best-known monuments in Rabat, Morocco. Located on Mohamed Lyazidi Boulevard, this unfinished tower overlooks a vast open space that is part of the capital’s historical landmarks. It is associated with the ambition of a large religious complex of which it is now the most visible vestige.
Built in warm-colored stone, the tower stands out for its understated decoration and façades punctuated by arches and geometric patterns. Its square, massive yet slender silhouette recalls Maghrebi and Andalusian religious architecture. The site is also striking for the alignment of the preserved columns around the unfinished mosque, which highlights the scale of the original project.
Tour Hassan is famous both for its historical value and for its presence in Rabat’s skyline. It bears witness to an interrupted construction project that was never completed, which adds to its unique character. When visiting the site, what stands out most are the tower itself, the open esplanade, and the remains of the columns – emblematic features of the site.
