Introduction to Life Electric

Life Electric is a monumental sculpture installed in Como, on the Piero Caldirola breakwater, on the shores of Lake Como. Set on the water and visible from the quays as well as from the city center, this contemporary work has become one of the most recognizable landmarks on the lakeside waterfront.

Designed by architect and designer Daniel Libeskind, Life Electric was conceived as a tribute to Alessandro Volta, inventor of the electric battery and native of Como. The title directly evokes energy, light, and the relationship between science, city, and landscape, in a deliberately minimalist and symbolic artistic language.

The sculpture stands out for its large curved volumes in polished stainless steel, creating a slender, reflective presence.
