Introduction to Pile Gate

Pile Gate is one of the main entrances to the Dubrovnik city walls, on the western side of the Old Town. Located at Dubrovačke Gradske Zidine, it marks a historic passage between the fortified city and the Pile district. Its stone architecture is part of the defensive ensemble that defines Dubrovnik.

The site includes an outer gate and an inner gate, separated by a passageway that recalls the military function of the place.
