Introduction to Qûtb Minâr

Qûtb Minâr is a stone minaret that rises above the Qutb complex, south of New Delhi, in the Mehrauli district. With its five stacked levels and projecting balconies, it is one of India’s most recognizable monuments and a major landmark of Indo-Islamic architecture.

Its construction began at the end of the 12th century and was continued by several rulers. Built in red sandstone and marble in some areas, it combines carved inscriptions, decorative bands, and floral motifs that highlight the refinement of its decoration.
