About Tambomachay

Tambomachay is an Inca archaeological site located north of Cusco, at an altitude of about 3,700 meters. It is also known as the “Inca Bath” because of its canals and fountains. The site is part of the monumental complexes in the Cusco Valley associated with water and ceremonial practices.

Tambomachay’s architecture stands out for its finely fitted stone walls and terraces connected to an impressive hydraulic system. Water still flows here today through conduits and carefully carved stone cascades. This work reveals the Inca mastery of water, both practical and symbolic.

The site is appreciated for the balance between simple forms and precise stonework. The pools, niches and stone steps create a compact complex, often interpreted as a space linked to water worship or ritual functions.
