Lage Park : info and guided tour

Introduction to Parque Lage

Parque Lage is a public park in Rio de Janeiro, at the foot of Corcovado, in the Jardim Botânico neighborhood. It is known for its peaceful atmosphere, large landscaped garden, and the presence of an old palace surrounded by tropical vegetation. The site combines a walk, heritage, and remarkable views of the mountain.

At the heart of the site is the Palacio de Lage, a mansion from the early 20th century associated with the former estate of Henrique Lage. Its eclectic-style architecture is distinguished by its inner courtyard with a central pool and arcades, which has become one of the park’s most photographed features. The complex was later repurposed for cultural uses.

Parque Lage is also famous for housing the Escola de Artes Visuais do Parque Lage, which has strengthened its artistic dimension. Exhibitions, cultural activities, and a setting that connects built heritage and landscape are often found here. The shaded paths, gardens, and palace facades are among the emblematic features to discover.
