Set against the cliffs of Deir el-Bahari, near Luxor, the mortuary temple of Hatshepsut is one of the most remarkable monuments on the west bank of the Nile. Built for the pharaoh-queen Hatshepsut, it was used for funerary worship and to glorify her reign in a monumental setting designed to harmonize with the mountain.

The site stands out for its vast terraced levels, linked by central ramps, and for a highly regular composition that contrasts with the surrounding rocky landscape.
